We are here for you
Over the next few issues, we’d like to introduce you to some of the personalities who work with New Zealand schools to help them transform into switched on places to teach and learn.
James Hackett, Education Account Manager
What area do you support?
I’m an Education Account Manager in Auckland, supporting schools with decision-making and procurement across a wide range of products from The Warehouse Group. With a background in teaching, my main focus is to ensure schools are well looked after throughout the whole process, by becoming a trusted advisor for key stakeholders schools.
What partnership or project are you most proud of?
I have been lucky enough to work on a diverse range of projects. We recently delivered a range of TVs, whiteware and appliances to a new classroom block. Seeing these products set up in the new space, and the opportunities this creates for learners, brought me great pride. Also, I’m proud to be working with schools to help them unlock the potential of leasing their products to suit budgets. This is how many schools are creating an equitable learning opportunity for students daily and it’s great to be a part of that.
What was your favourite thing about school growing up?
There was a lot to love. The opportunity to spend time with friends on a daily basis, having conversations with teachers and getting involved with a wide range of sports and extracurricular activities. I certainly learnt just as much outside of the classroom as I did in it!
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
Having made the decision to leave the classroom after a decade, it was important for me to stay involved in Education. The thing I love most about my job is that I can still make an impact on future generations by helping schools with the solutions they need to thrive. I love the fact that there are endless opportunities with what we can provide so no two solutions are the same. I see the relationship between schools and The Warehouse Group as a really productive partnership.
Sam Gibson, Education Strategy Lead
What area do you support?
As the Education Sector Strategy Lead for The Warehouse Group Business, I support all our brands to achieve our vision, which is to enrich learning through affordable and sustainable solutions that allow students to thrive.
What partnership or project are you most proud of?
I am really proud of the partnership we have with KidsCan through our Friends and Family events with schools. Recently we just raised over $15,000 for KidsCan over a two-week period, and it is awesome to know that this goes a long way to supporting equitable learning opportunities. I am also excited to work with a number of schools for Back to School this year with our #hereforgood offer. This will help support schools to ensure that all students can turn up with their stationery ready for learning on day one of 2024.
What was your favourite thing about school growing up?
I loved both sports and anything where we had the opportunity to use computers. In those days, computers were really starting to enable much easier access to a wealth of information and that was fascinating to me.
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I love thinking of new and innovative ways that we can support schools to enrich learning for their students. The Warehouse Group has a huge focus on making Kiwi lives better, and we can take a real grassroots approach to this with the different ways that we can support schools.
